Principal Software Engineer - Core Java

Lead the design, development, and delivery of core Java applications for NatWest Group, focusing on performance, scalability, security, and automation. Collaborate with architects and cross‑functional teams to shape engineering best practices and drive continuous improvement across the bank’s software ecosystem.

• Design, architect, and deliver scalable Java solutions with a customer‑centric focus
• Lead end‑to‑end automation of build, test, and deployment pipelines
• Provide governance and oversight of engineering and design solutions
• Collaborate with platform and feature teams to create reusable, secure, and high‑performance components
• Develop architecture models, roadmaps, and best‑practice guidelines
• Apply Agile methods and DevOps techniques to accelerate delivery
• Mentor and guide engineering teams on technical excellence and process improvement

• 12+ years of Java development experience
• Deep expertise in Core Java, Spring, Spring Boot, JDBC, Multithreading, JUnit, and TestNG
• Strong database skills with SQL Server and PostgreSQL
• Proficient in Unix/Linux (RHEL) environments, application deployment, and production support
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and modern DevOps practices
• Hands‑on CI/CD using GitLab and TeamCity
• Agile delivery experience with Jira
• Excellent architectural, performance tuning, and scalability skills
