Team Lead - Android Developer

HME Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Lead Android Developer to design, develop, deploy, and maintain Android-based applications used in mining fleet operations, equipment monitoring, dispatch management, and real-time operational tracking. The role requires close collaboration with software engineers, hardware teams, product managers, and mine-site operations teams, along with a willingness to travel extensively internationally to customer locations and remote mining sites.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, high-performance Android applications using Kotlin and Java
• Implement modern Android architecture using MVVM, Clean Architecture, and Jetpack components
• Integrate REST APIs, WebSockets, and real-time data communication services, ensuring functionality in remote locations with limited internet connectivity
• Develop and enhance Android applications integrated with Fleet Management Systems for mining operations
• Coordinate with hardware engineers and OEM specialists to integrate Android applications with GNSS/GPS receivers, telemetry devices, and CAN bus interfaces
• Travel internationally to customer locations and mining sites for installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, and support
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level Android developers, leading development activities and ensuring best practices

• Minimum 10 years of professional Android application development experience
• Strong hands-on experience in Kotlin and Java
• Experience developing complex Android applications with real-time data processing
• Practical experience with Fleet Management Systems (FMS), preferably in mining or heavy equipment operations
• Experience integrating Android applications with external hardware, telemetry devices, or industrial equipment
• Experience developing applications for rugged or industrial Android tablets
• Experience with deployment, troubleshooting, and technical support at customer sites
• Experience working with cross-functional and international technical teams
