Software Engineer, Staff - Java

Blackbaud is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to help build and enhance AI-powered solutions for social impact. In this role, you will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable applications that empower purpose-driven organizations.

• Design, build, and maintain high-quality software solutions that are scalable, reliable, and easy to support
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance application performance, user experience, and development processes
• Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to define requirements and deliver solutions
• Partner with engineers and user experience teams to translate design concepts into accessible, standards-compliant web experiences
• Contribute to technical design discussions and help shape effective, long-term architectural decisions
• Support Agile delivery by actively participating in sprint planning, standups, reviews, retrospectives, and Scrum ceremonies
• Maintain strong engineering standards through code quality practices and operational excellence
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate delivery and improve quality

• 2 to 5 years of experience designing and developing applications using Java
• Experience with modern web technologies including JavaScript or TypeScript, Angular, CSS, and HTML
• Experience working with Tomcat, Linux, and Jenkins in software development environments
• Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, and/or Cosmos DB databases
• Strong understanding of object-oriented development principles and software engineering best practices
• Experience developing and integrating RESTful services and APIs, along with Git and continuous integration systems
• Familiarity with cloud-based application development on platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform
