Senior Business and Data Analyst

Senior Business and Data Analyst at Abacus Insights will bridge business needs and data solutions for US health plans. The role focuses on data profiling, quality assessment, requirement definition, and client‑facing analysis to ensure reliable, reusable data models and actionable insights.

• Write and execute SQL to profile source data and assess data quality.
• Analyze source data for availability, reliability, and gaps.
• Reconcile and validate outputs against source systems and client benchmarks.
• Define and document business metrics and KPIs with precise logic.
• Perform exploratory and root‑cause analysis on data anomalies.
• Summarize findings through reports and visualizations for non‑technical stakeholders.
• Lead discovery sessions and translate use cases into testable requirements.
• Document source‑to‑target mappings, transformation logic, and business rules.
• Recommend dataset grain and structure based on business context.
• Identify dependencies and assess cross‑workstream impacts.
• Represent client intent and present analysis to stakeholders with clarity.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects, Product, QA, and other teams for clean hand‑offs.
• Support QA and UAT with validation queries, expected results, and variance analysis.
• Maintain awareness of engagement‑wide effects to pre‑empt rework.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in the US healthcare domain working with healthcare data (claims, provider, membership, benefits, etc.).
• Payer experience with Medicare, Medicaid, or Commercial health plans.
• Strong SQL skills for data profiling and analysis.
• Proficiency in data quality assessment and data profiling.
• Experience translating business requirements into testable specifications.
• Excellent client‑facing and stakeholder communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross‑functional teams.
