Data and AI Engineer

Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) seeks a Data and AI Engineer to join its Applied AI team. The role involves developing, fine‑tuning, and deploying generative AI models such as large language models, diffusion and multimodal systems, while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to translate research into business solutions.

• Train, fine‑tune, and evaluate generative AI models (LLMs, diffusion, multimodal systems).
• Experiment with prompt engineering, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG), and agent‑based architectures.
• Benchmark model performance and optimize for accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
• Build proof‑of‑concept applications showcasing GenAI capabilities for business use cases.
• Support integration of GenAI models into enterprise workflows, APIs, or platforms.
• Collaborate with MLOps engineers to ensure models are production‑ready.
• Stay updated with latest advancements in GenAI, NLP, and multimodal AI.
• Explore new architectures, frameworks, and evaluation methods.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing within the team and broader organization.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to understand problem statements and co‑create solutions.
• Translate research findings into actionable insights for business applications.
• Present results and demos to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• Strong foundations in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Natural Language Processing.
• Proficiency in Python and ML/AI libraries including PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, and LangChain.
• Basic knowledge of transformer architectures and experience with pre‑trained models.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
