Business Analyst

Business Analyst responsible for bridging mining operations stakeholders, product owners, and engineering teams to translate operational needs into clear, testable requirements for Caterpillar’s MineStar Office platform. Works in an Agile environment, documenting requirements, user stories, and maintaining traceability across the development lifecycle.

• Elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements from stakeholders, product owners, and UX designers
• Translate business needs into well‑structured user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications in Azure DevOps
• Conduct gap analysis between current processes and proposed system capabilities
• Facilitate workshops, interviews, and collaborative sessions with cross‑functional teams
• Support backlog refinement and sprint planning, ensuring stories are prioritized and well‑defined
• Collaborate with frontend and backend engineers to validate feature implementation
• Partner with QA to define test scenarios, participate in UAT, and verify functional and non‑functional requirements
• Maintain traceability between business requirements, user stories, and test cases throughout the SDLC
• Support both cloud‑deployed and on‑premises distribution targets by documenting functional parity expectations
• Diagnose and document production issues, working with engineering to establish root cause and communicate resolution timelines
• Produce and maintain process models, data‑flow diagrams, and feature documentation for onboarding and maintainability

• 6+ years of experience as a Business Analyst
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Business Analysis, Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline
• Strong experience with Azure DevOps for work-item tracking
• Proficiency with Angular (v18+), Java, and Spring Boot for backend integration
• Experience designing and validating WebSocket/STOMP messaging and RESTful APIs
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-deployed service architectures
• Familiarity with GIS concepts and geospatial data visualization tools (e.g., Deck.gl, Power BI)
• Experience with BDD-style scenarios using Gherkin/Cucumber
• Understanding of internationalization (i18n) and locale‑aware UI design
