Vice President of Data Engineering

Lead the design, development, and maintenance of BlackRock’s enterprise data platform, ensuring scalable, reliable, and governed data pipelines that support investment, operational, and technology outcomes.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance data pipelines for enterprise data products
• Build batch and real‑time ingestion, transformation, and publishing processes across diverse data sources
• Develop reusable data engineering frameworks and automation to improve platform efficiency
• Ensure data products meet quality, security, governance, lineage, and observability standards
• Optimize performance, scalability, resiliency, and cost across the data platform
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long‑term solutions
• Contribute to engineering standards, code reviews, testing practices, CI/CD automation, and technical documentation
• Collaborate with product managers, data stewards, platform engineers, and business stakeholders

• 7+ years of experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale data engineering solutions
• 4+ years of strong Java, Python, or Scala programming skills (core Python and PySpark)
• 4+ years of experience building and optimizing big data pipelines on Spark
• Proficiency with Snowflake, Hive, and SQL (Transact SQL, No-SQL, GraphQL)
• Hands‑on experience with Airflow, DBT, Kafka, and workflow management tools
• Experience with data governance, metadata management, and lineage tools such as Axon and Unity Catalog
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps)
