Senior COBOL Developer - Legacy Modernization

The role focuses on legacy-code ownership, performing discovery-first analysis of COBOL programs, JCL scripts, copybooks, and job definitions to understand current system behavior and determine what needs to be preserved during modernization. The candidate will leverage AI tooling, including GitHub Copilot agents specifically designed for COBOL program analysis, job‑flow mapping, and dependency tracing, to accelerate the assessment and planning process.

• Read and analyze legacy COBOL programs, JCL, copybooks, and job definitions
• Map job flows and trace dependencies within the legacy system
• Use AI tooling to accelerate code analysis and documentation
• Identify critical components that must be preserved during modernization
• Collaborate with modernization teams to align legacy insights with new architecture plans
