QA Engineer - Networking L2/L3 Testing | 4 - 8 yrs

A QA Engineer will validate Cisco’s IOS XR routing and Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) capabilities across functional, system, regression, performance, and high‑availability domains. The role focuses on designing test strategies, developing automation with Python and pyATS, and maintaining diverse test environments using Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, VMware, and OpenStack. The engineer will analyze complex failure scenarios, integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, and mentor junior team members while leveraging AI‑assisted tools for test generation and log analysis.

• Design and implement functional, system, regression, performance, and resiliency tests for IOS XR routing and BNG features
• Develop reusable automation scripts using Python, pyATS, Genie, and related frameworks
• Build and maintain physical, virtual, containerized, and cloud‑based test environments
• Validate subscriber technologies (IPoE, PPP, DHCP, RADIUS, AAA) and Layer 2/Layer 3 protocols (Ethernet, VLAN, BGP, OSPF, MPLS)
• Investigate system‑level failures using logs, packet captures, telemetry, and protocol traces
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and perform code reviews
• Mentor junior engineers and communicate product‑quality risks to stakeholders

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field
• 4–8 years of experience in software engineering, network product testing, or quality engineering
• Strong knowledge of BNG architecture, subscriber‑management technologies (PPP/PPPoE, DHCP, RADIUS, AAA, accounting)
• Comprehensive understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking (TCP/IP, Ethernet, VLAN, IPv4/IPv6, BGP, OSPF, IS‑IS, MPLS)
• Advanced Python programming for test automation and scripting
• Experience with Linux/Unix, Git, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines
• Hands‑on with cloud, containerization, virtualization (Docker, Kubernetes, VMware, OpenStack)
• Familiarity with AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot)
