MTS III Android Developer

Panasonic Avionics Corporation is seeking a Senior Android Developer to architect, design, and build next‑generation Android applications for its In‑Flight Entertainment platform. The role involves leading technical design, mentoring engineers, and ensuring high‑performance, scalable solutions that serve millions of airline passengers worldwide.

• Lead the architecture, design, and development of Android applications for the IFE platform
• Own critical software modules and deliver complex features from design through production
• Conduct architecture reviews, code quality assessments, and CI/CD pipeline improvements
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical design discussions
• Optimize application performance and troubleshoot production issues
• Collaborate with distributed engineering teams to ensure seamless delivery

• Extensive Android development experience using Kotlin
• Expertise in MVVM, Clean Architecture, and modular application design
• Strong understanding of SOLID principles and advanced design patterns
• Deep knowledge of Android Jetpack libraries (Navigation, WorkManager, ViewModel, LiveData, Room) and Dependency Injection
• Proficiency with Jetpack Compose and traditional Android View UI development
• Advanced skills in Kotlin Coroutines, Flow, StateFlow, SharedFlow, and structured concurrency
• Experience designing medium to large‑scale systems, API contracts, offline‑first architectures, telemetry, and feature flag integrations
• Strong performance optimization skills (startup, rendering, memory, battery, long‑running sessions)
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex production issues (ANRs, crashes, threading, concurrency)
• Hands‑on experience with performance profiling tools (Android Profiler, CPU/Memory profiling, Heap Dumps, Thread Dumps, Systrace, Perfetto)
• Experience driving engineering best practices (architecture reviews, code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, static code analysis)
• Leadership skills with mentoring, technical design reviews, RFC discussions, and influencing engineering direction
• Excellent collaboration and communication across globally distributed teams
• Preferred experience with OTT, media, streaming, or digital entertainment projects
